Terms and conditions
SSBD Wedding Ceremony Reservation Agreement
This Wedding Ceremony Reservation Agreement is entered into by and between Same Same But Different, LLC, a California limited liability company, referred to as “SSBD,” “Festival,” “we,” or “us,” and the purchaser and participating couple, referred to as “Couple,” “you,” or “your.”
By purchasing or reserving a wedding ceremony spot at Same Same But Different, you agree to the following terms.
1. Reservation of Ceremony Spot
Your purchase reserves a limited wedding ceremony time slot during the Same Same But Different festival at or near Lake Perris State Park. Ceremony dates, times, locations, and available wedding packages are limited and subject to festival operations, site conditions, permitting, safety requirements, and production needs.
Your reservation is not confirmed until payment has been successfully processed and you receive a written confirmation from SSBD.
2. What Is Included
Your reservation includes only the items specifically listed in the wedding package selected at checkout or in your written confirmation.
Unless expressly included in your selected package, your reservation does not include festival admission, camping, parking, lodging, transportation, food, beverage, photography, videography, flowers, décor, hair and makeup, wedding attire, legal marriage license fees, or any other service not specifically listed.
All guests attending the ceremony must have valid admission credentials if the ceremony takes place within the festival grounds.
3. Marriage License and Legal Requirements
You are solely responsible for obtaining a valid California marriage license before the ceremony. SSBD is not responsible for obtaining, verifying, filing, correcting, or replacing your marriage license unless expressly stated in writing.
You are responsible for ensuring that all legal requirements for marriage are satisfied, including obtaining a valid license, bringing required identification, providing any required witness, and ensuring that the ceremony occurs within the required time period under California law.
If SSBD provides or coordinates an officiant, that officiant’s role is limited to performing the ceremony and, where applicable, signing the marriage license. SSBD does not guarantee that your marriage will be legally valid if you fail to obtain the proper license, provide required documentation, meet legal requirements, or comply with instructions from the officiant or county clerk.
4. Payment, Fees, and Refunds
The amount due for your selected wedding package will be shown at checkout. Payment is required to reserve your ceremony spot.
Because ceremony spots are limited and SSBD may turn away other couples once your reservation is confirmed, the reservation fee is non-refundable, except as expressly stated in this Agreement.
Suggested refund structure:
Reservation fee: Non-refundable once paid.
Remaining package balance, if any: Refundable only as follows:
Cancellation Timing Refund Policy
More than 60 days before festival Refund of amounts paid minus non-refundable reservation fee
30 to 60 days before festival 50% refund of amounts paid minus non-refundable reservation fee
Less than 30 days before festival No refund
No-show or late arrival No refund
SSBD may, in its discretion, allow you to transfer your reservation to another couple or apply part of your payment to another SSBD offering, but SSBD is not required to do so.
5. Late Arrival and Missed Ceremony Time
You must arrive at the designated check-in location by the time provided in your confirmation or wedding instructions.
Festival schedules are time-sensitive. If you or your guests arrive late, SSBD may shorten, modify, relocate, or cancel your ceremony. No refunds will be provided for late arrival, missed check-in, failure to bring required documents, failure to obtain a marriage license, or failure to follow ceremony instructions.
6. Festival Environment
You understand and agree that SSBD is an active music festival, not a private wedding venue. The festival environment may include music, amplified sound, crowds, weather, dust, sand, uneven terrain, lighting effects, art installations, performers, vendors, security, production activity, and other festival-related conditions.
SSBD does not guarantee silence, privacy, uninterrupted access, specific lighting, specific weather, a specific backdrop, or exclusive use of any area unless expressly stated in writing.
7. Ceremony Location and Changes
SSBD will make reasonable efforts to provide the ceremony location described in your package or confirmation. However, SSBD may change the ceremony location, timing, layout, route, staging, décor, or other details if reasonably necessary due to safety, weather, permitting, production, artist schedules, crowd control, park requirements, or operational needs.
A location or timing change made for safety, permitting, weather, or operational reasons will not entitle you to a refund unless SSBD cancels the ceremony entirely and does not offer a reasonable substitute.
8. Weather, Force Majeure, and Event Changes
SSBD is an outdoor event. Weather and other conditions may affect the ceremony. You accept the risk of heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, poor air quality, smoke, lightning, fire danger, government orders, park closures, artist or production delays, public safety issues, or other conditions beyond SSBD’s reasonable control.
If SSBD determines that a ceremony cannot safely or reasonably occur as planned, SSBD may relocate, delay, shorten, modify, reschedule, or cancel the ceremony.
If the entire festival is canceled, postponed, materially relocated, or materially altered, your rights will be governed by the applicable SSBD ticketing terms, event policies, and any wedding-specific policy provided by SSBD.
9. Officiant
If your package includes an officiant, SSBD will make reasonable efforts to provide an authorized officiant for the ceremony. If the scheduled officiant becomes unavailable, SSBD may provide a substitute officiant.
If you bring your own officiant, you are solely responsible for confirming that the officiant is legally authorized to perform the ceremony and complete any required license paperwork.
SSBD is not responsible for any failure by your chosen officiant to appear, perform the ceremony, sign documents, file documents, or comply with applicable law.
10. Guests
Your package may include a maximum number of ceremony guests. You may not exceed that number without written approval from SSBD.
All guests must follow SSBD rules, state park rules, security instructions, alcohol policies, wristband and credential requirements, and all applicable laws. SSBD may remove or deny access to any guest who is intoxicated, disruptive, unsafe, abusive, non-compliant, or lacking proper credentials.
Removal or denial of access for you or your guests will not entitle you to a refund.
11. Décor, Items, and Outside Vendors
No outside décor, confetti, glitter, rice, balloons, glass, open flames, drones, amplified sound, furniture, arches, signage, flowers, props, equipment, or vendors may be brought into the ceremony area without prior written approval from SSBD.
Any approved items must comply with festival rules, park rules, safety rules, environmental rules, and Leave No Trace practices. You are responsible for removing all personal items immediately after the ceremony unless SSBD agrees otherwise in writing.
SSBD may remove or prohibit any item or vendor that creates a safety, environmental, permitting, aesthetic, or operational concern.
12. Photography and Video
Personal photography and video by you or your guests is allowed only where permitted by SSBD and festival rules.
If you hire a photographer or videographer, they must have valid festival credentials and must comply with SSBD media, access, drone, and equipment policies.
You understand that SSBD takes place in a public festival environment where photography and video may occur. By attending the festival, you and your guests may appear in festival photography, video, livestreams, social media, press coverage, promotional materials, or other media.
Recommended separate checkbox:
I agree that SSBD may photograph or film our ceremony and use selected images or video for SSBD promotional purposes.
I would make this an optional separate consent if you plan to use close-up ceremony content in ads.
13. Accessibility and Special Requests
You are responsible for notifying SSBD in advance of any accessibility needs, medical considerations, mobility limitations, timing constraints, or special requests. SSBD will make reasonable efforts to accommodate approved requests but cannot guarantee all requests, especially if submitted late or if they conflict with site, safety, permitting, or operational limitations.
14. Assumption of Risk
You understand that attending and participating in an outdoor music festival involves risks, including but not limited to uneven ground, crowds, weather, loud sound, dust, sand, water, heat, dehydration, lighting, production equipment, temporary structures, vehicles, and the actions of other attendees.
You voluntarily assume all risks associated with attending SSBD and participating in the wedding ceremony, except to the extent caused by SSBD’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.
15. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Same Same But Different, LLC, its owners, managers, employees, contractors, vendors, sponsors, partners, agents, volunteers, affiliates, insurers, successors, and assigns from any claims, damages, losses, costs, injuries, delays, emotional distress, disappointment, lost opportunities, or expenses arising from or related to your wedding reservation, ceremony, festival attendance, guest conduct, weather, event changes, third-party vendors, or failure to satisfy legal marriage requirements, except to the extent caused by SSBD’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.
16. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SSBD and its owners, managers, employees, contractors, vendors, sponsors, partners, agents, volunteers, affiliates, insurers, successors, and assigns from and against any claims, damages, fines, penalties, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to:
Your breach of this Agreement.
Your failure to obtain or properly complete a marriage license.
The conduct of you, your partner, your guests, your officiant, or your vendors.
Property damage or personal injury caused by you, your guests, your officiant, or your vendors.
Violation of festival rules, state park rules, or applicable law.
Unauthorized décor, equipment, vendors, alcohol, drones, open flames, or prohibited items.
17. No Guarantee of Outcome
SSBD does not guarantee any specific emotional, aesthetic, legal, photographic, social media, weather, timing, guest, or experiential outcome. SSBD’s responsibility is limited to making reasonable efforts to provide the wedding package purchased, subject to this Agreement and the realities of an active outdoor festival environment.
18. Chargebacks
You agree not to initiate a credit card chargeback or payment dispute for issues covered by this Agreement, including non-refundable fees, late arrival, failure to bring required documents, failure to obtain a marriage license, festival conditions, weather, location changes, or dissatisfaction with subjective aspects of the experience.
If you initiate an improper chargeback, SSBD may provide this Agreement, your checkout acceptance, confirmation emails, and attendance records to the payment processor as evidence.
19. Relationship to Festival Terms
This Agreement is in addition to SSBD’s general ticketing terms, waiver, code of conduct, refund policy, park rules, camping rules, and any other applicable festival policies. If there is a conflict between this Agreement and general festival terms, this Agreement controls only for the wedding reservation.
20. Governing Law
This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute arising out of or related to this Agreement will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless SSBD’s general ticketing terms require a different dispute resolution process.
21. Entire Agreement
This Agreement, together with your checkout confirmation, selected package description, and applicable SSBD festival terms, represents the entire agreement between you and SSBD regarding your wedding ceremony reservation.
No verbal statement, social media post, text message, advertisement, or informal communication modifies this Agreement unless confirmed in writing by an authorized SSBD representative.
22. Acceptance
By checking the box at checkout, signing electronically, or completing your purchase, you confirm that:
You have read and understand this Agreement.
You agree to be bound by this Agreement.
You understand that your reservation fee is non-refundable.
You understand that you are responsible for obtaining a valid marriage license.
